The Museum of the American Revolution

The Museum of the American Revolution is getting closer to becoming a reality! Appearing in an article from mid-October, developers are beginning to take bids from contractors in order the build the Museum.  Construction is set to begin within the next two years and the planned opening is for the end of 2016 or early 2017.   The Museum is highly anticipated as it focuses solely on the American Revolution.  Their website quotes that they strive to “[engage] the public in the history and significance of the American Revolution and its enduring legacy.”

A wide variety of artifacts are going to be on display when the Museum opens.  Some of the items in their collections are available on their website in an interactive display.  Some of these artifacts include weapons, artwork, manuscripts and items belonging to George Washington.

The Museum’s website gives visitors a current look at how the project is progressing and even offers a layout of how the finished product will look.  This site is highly recommended as it brings to life the important history of the American Revolution, even as the institution is being created.  It offers connections with the surrounding area and provides resources for enhancing one’s knowledge of the Revolution.
