WWI Centenary Preparations

August 2014 will mark the hundred year anniversary of the First World War. Preparations are underway around the world to commemorate the centenary of the conflict. Recently European news organizations have reported that the German Foreign Ministry is unhappy with the 'celebratory' tone of commemoration plans in the United Kingdom. Article in the Telegraph, Article in Der Spiegel The German government fears a celebration of the Britain's role in the Great War might overshadow the historical events preceding the Armistice in 1918 and serve to distort the public's understanding of the conflict.
